Fight Club, written by Chuck Palahniuk, was published in 1996. Although I did not enjoy the book I did enjoy the concept. These are one of the rare instances where I think the film was better than the novel. In comparing the two, the novel was very anti-climatic for me. I expected to ending to be dramatic and amazing, but it fell through for me. However, that doesn’t change the fact that Palahniuk is a great writer who came up with something so brilliant. It’s very dark and not for the faint of heart. You may have to read some chapters more than once because it gets confusing at times. Not because Palahniuk wrote it badly, but because it’s hard to grasp the complexity of the characters and the story as a whole.
