Book Confessions
1. To mark your page you: use a bookmark, bend the page corner, leave the book open face down?
I use a bookmark, but if I lost my bookmark as I usually do, I will leave it face down.
2. Do you lend your books?
I no longer lend my books after allowing two of my friends to borrow them and than having them returned in a less than favorable condition.
3. You find an interesting passage: you write in your book or NO WRITING IN BOOKS!
I write in my books with pencil. It’s absolutely fine to. I have never seen the problem. To not write in a book is ridiculous. In university, it’s almost necessary to highlight and mark things.
4. Dust jackets – leave it on or take it off.
I take them off when reading the book, especially somewhere like the beach. But I put them back on when I finish with it.
5. Hard cover, paperback, skip it and get the audio book?
I’m not picky about hard cover or paperback, but if it’s a series I really like and want to own my preference would be with hard cover. Overall, I just go with what I can get at a bargain price ;)
6. Do you shelve your books by subject, author, or size and color of the book spines?
My collection of books is fairly small because growing up my mother rarely bought my books and it wasn’t until three years ago that I started buying my own books. So my books are all stacked in a basket in no particular order.
7. Buy it or borrow it from the library later?
I hardly get the chance to go to a local library, especially as a college student. So I’ll have to go with buying at a discounted price.
8. Do you put your name on your books – scribble your name in the cover, fancy bookplate, or stamp?
I don’t do any of these things.
9. Are most of the books you own rare and out-of-print books or recent publications?
Most are recent publications with the exception of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (‘93) and Night (‘60).
10. Page edges – deckled or straight?
Wow, I had no idea what ‘deckled’ was until I googled it. Well, either is fine with me. I have only one book with deckle pages though.
11. How many books do you read at one time?
Two at most.
12. Be honest, ever tear a page from a book?
No, I have not.
