Skylight Confessions is a novel about family, death, and the symbolic meanings of family ties and the disappointment that can come with having one.
Lets cut to the chase —- I did not like this book. The other novel by her I reviewed was okay and it was different, but I didn’t learn anything new from this one. She basically wrote about a normal situation, but in more of a “fairytale-poetic” prose. Hoffman has her own unique style of writing, but not one I can particularly favor. Suffice to say, this will probably be the last novel by her I read.

What other book did you read by her? I really really enjoyed The River King, if you want to give that a chance. Haven’t read any of her others.
